Matt Siegel has been working for the WNC Green Building Council since 2002 as a founding member. He has been operating the green building hotline and consulting on commercial LEED projects as a LEED AP including the Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribe's new schools project, the Eblen Foundation's new office and conference center, and the office building in downtown Black Mountain.
Mr. Siegel is a founder of Blue Ridge Biofuels, serves on the board of Kleiwerks International, a natural building non-profit and has worked installing solar energy and radiant floor heat systems. Before working with the WNCGBC, Matt worked with Land of Sky's Waste Reduction Partners doing research for UNCA's High Performance Science Building and organizing the deconstruction of the Highsmith Student Center. Matt was also construction coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Hickory, NC where he initiated their energy efficiency program.
Matt enjoys taking walks in the Asheville area with Joya and Louise, discovering new origami animals, and having parties (so he can create MonkEmails).
"I believe that what we are missing in the world are positive alternatives to the current way of being in the world. Green building is one alternative that makes sense environmentally, socially, and financially."
