The Green Professional Accreditation (GPA) program was created by the WNC Green Building Council in order to give professionals the opportunity to gain education as well as the ability to set themselves apart from others in the green building profession. Through this program, participants will gain a well rounded foundation of knowledge of green building.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for the GPA program?
In order to receive the GPA, you must complete 36 credit hours of green building education and pass a final test.  Most classes count for 4 credit hours.

How do I enroll in the GPA program?
Simply fill out the online registration form and pay the one time registration fee of $40.

How are my credit hours tracked?
When you register online for a WNCGBC class, select the box for the GPA credit hours.

Can I take green building classes from other organizations and get credit towards the GPA Program?
Yes, you can take up to 8 credit hours from another organization. The hours must be approved by WNCGBC.  Examples of organizations who offer green building classes approved for GPA Credit include: AB Tech, USGBC, NAHB Green Builder Certification, Southface, NC Solar Center and ASU Renewable Energy Initiative.

Can I count credit hours from WNCGBC Green Building Classes that I have taken in the past?
Yes, you can submit the names and dates of classes you have taken in the past and receive credit towards the GPA program. Email the information to Office@wncgbc.org

Can I receive credit hours for attending the annual WNCGBC Green Home and Solar Tour?
Yes, all future tours counts for 2 credit hours. You cannot get credit hours from attending pervious tours.

How long does it take to complete the GPA program?
The GPA can be obtained in less than one year, but you can take as long as needed. The WNCGBC offers twelve or more classes a year; for a list of classes, go to http://www.wncgbc.org/events/calendar.php

What kind of documentation do I receive after completing the GPA Program?
Upon completion of the GPA Program, participants will receive a certificate along with the GPA logo, which can be used on marketing material. Participants who have completed the program will also be listed on the WNCGBC website.
